This piece is written for marimba, violin and electronics. Csitári is a reflection on the styles of minimalism and Hungarian folk music, in its fragmentation and development of the Hungarian folk song, ‘A csitári hegyek alatt.’

The line structure of the folk song is A A B A. The structure of the piece loosely follows the structure of the song in the following way:I used ‘A’ to create the repeating pattern, which builds up, then disappears as a foreign material comes in, high in the register, thinning out the texture before the climax of the piece, which is the orchestration of the third line, the ‘B’ material, mirroring its function in the folk song. Which then leads to the finale, the return of the modified ‘A’ material
